Positive Reinforcement
I have ran a tutoring business for the last six years and I have also been involved in tutoring for the last eight. One method I have felt was best when I first stated tutoring was using positive reinforcement. This method has allowed students to achieve academic excellence. People tend to perform better when they feel good and it works the same for students. When students have confidence in academics they go in to tests or take on homework assignments with a different mind set. This confidence creates better performance and motivates students about learning. Math may not be the easiest subject in school however try telling your children they can excel with a little hard work. Obviously with the rise of academic competition, tutoring is another great alternative. The importance of education is bigger than it has ever been. With that said, tutoring is no longer for students who are struggling. We have helped students who have always maintained good grades but now want to advance to the next level. Our program prides ourselves on the focus of positively reinforcing students in Math, Reading, Writing, and any other subject. This allows us to teach students not only how to learn but also what to learn. It is easy to get discouraged in academics. Positive reinforcement is what helps students conquer this battle and focus their attention on doing well.
Building Confidence in Education
An important tool for students is to really build that confidence. If they have had a history of struggling in one subject then they may not be able to dramatically improve their grade, but remember academics is a marathon and not a sprint. Some recommendations to perform well would be to get into tutoring, explain to your children the importance of asking questions in class, and to always stay on top of homework. Procrastination is one thing that lowers confidence in students.
TZ SAT/ACT Prep
The standardized ACT / SAT test can be of great importance during your child’s admission to college. Many children assume that they can go into a ACT / SAT test unprepared, but then realize that studying would have helped them do quite a bit better.
Both the ACT and the SAT are predictable tests. The questions and multiple-choice answers are structured in such a way that your child can learn methods of determining right answers through Tutor Zone practice tests and test prep. A thorough ACT / SAT test prep will build your child’s confidence.
TZ Certified tutors who have taught the classes before and know the tests lead our SAT/ACT Prep courses. Your child will benefit from our guidance and the experience as professional tutor. Additionally, at Tutor Zone, our courses often offer a guarantee that your child’s score will improve through additional free lessons.

Wacky Wednesday
In the world of High School School Football one of the most important days of the week is Wednesday. The reason why is because football player’s preparation will be tested mainly on Friday nights. Although many students may not be part of the football team, one thing is certain: a student just like football players need to prepare hard two nights before their test.
Furthermore, many schools can see varsity football players doing “walk throughs” on Thursdays where players review everything they learned about their opponent for the week. Students need to relate more of their study habits to how a football team prepares for the game. This means a student should prepare for a Math, English or any other subject at least two nights before.
Studies show a student who studies frequently throughout the week has a much better chance of excelling than a person who studies the night before the test. The secret to succeeding on a teat is to make sure preparation is done properly!
Test day Friday
While many students wrap up the week with tests on Fridays, not too many students prepare themselves properly Monday thru Thursday (see MyTutorZone). As the rise of academic competition grows stronger students need develop better foundations for success.
Many parents have expressed frustration of late night cram sessions. The issue with academics these days are that late night cram sessions should be abolished. Students can complain they studies hard for a math exam but fail, or they question why they didn’t understand their History final.
The problem is that it is impossible to master one or two weeks of material in one night. We almost all have heard, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” However how come people never say, “Thirty minutes of studying a day brings you an A”?
Students will succeed much more by continuous studying in smaller portions than in one cram session. I have never heard of a runner run one night before a marathon and be ready. Our minds our like muscles and students need to learn how to prepare their minds for the marathon of education.

Benefits of One on One Tutoring
How TZ distinguishes itself…
One-on-one tutoring has many advantages over group tutoring. One-on-one tutoring is more focused and versatile than group tutoring. With group tutoring, tutors focus on more general concepts. They often have to reteach material some of the students already understand. Its hard for the tutor to explain the concepts in a way each student can understand because of the diversity of each group. With one-on-one tutoring, the tutor can develop a study plan to strengthen the students’ weaknesses, enabling the student to combat issues directly. If the student is having trouble understanding a concept, the tutor can spend more time explaining the concept in a way that the student can understand. The tutor also helps to build an infrastructure for studying at home that best suits the student own preferences for learning. Students can also get help with more than one subject with one-on-one tutoring. If they have a math and a chemistry test the next day, but feel strongly on about math, they can quickly go through the math concepts that aren’t understood and spend the rest of the time focusing on chemistry.
One on one tutoring keeps students focused and engaged in the lesson, allowing the students to use their time more efficiently. When in groups, many kids are overly self-conscious of what their peers think. They do not ask as many question and they do not engage in the conversation for the fear of feeling stupid or being laughed at. As many teachers would contest, students are also more likely to get distracted by their friends and engage in side conversations. One-on-one tutoring cuts out these distractions, giving students more bang for their buck.
Another benefit of one-on-one tutoring is that each student can choose a tutor that best suits his or her liking. The session is a lot more enjoyable and more can be accomplished if the if the student likes the person who is tutoring him/her. The students will stay more focused on their work rather than how much they dislike the tutor.
